Black Eye

On Monday, September 26th. Kylee bumped her head on the bar in our kitchen.  This is what happens when your eye meets the granite.  She cried as she rubbed her eye and I noticed there was immediately a huge lump and a little bleeding. We ran outside and the neighbors suggested we take her to the hospital.  Luckily the neighbor across the street is a paramedic.  He came over to take a look and suggested we just put some ice on it and keep an eye on Kylee the rest of the night.  Kylee was so brave and wanted to do nothing but sleep.  One of the funny things Kylee said was, "Call Jackie, she's a doctor."  Kylee was a lot more at ease once she knew her Jack Jack knew about her eye.  Kylee fell asleep on the couch about 7:30-8:00pm and slept the whole night through.  The next morning, Kylee's poor little eye was swollen shut.  She couldn't even open it.  Luckily, Nana was off of work due to back surgery, so she kept Kylee.  Kylee has never really cared what others thought about her...well at least she never verbally expressed it.  But, on Wednesday morning as we walked to class, Kylee cried her little eyes out.  She was certain all the kids in her class were going to make fun of her and call her ugly. This broke my heart!  I literally had to carry her in the room.  Her teacher, Mrs. Meador, grabbed Kylee and loved on her.  I later got a phone call from her teacher saying everything was good.  The next day, the class was supposed to wear purple shirts, and her teacher wore purple eye shadow on one eye.  Oh the things teachers will do for their students.  I couldn't have asked for a better teacher for Kylee.  With all of this, Kylee felt much better about going to school.  Her eye is still healing.  It's just about been every color in the rainbow.  Above is a picture of Kylee that I took when she thought I was taking a group picture.  (She didn't want me taking pictures of her eye.) I zoomed in on her so I could get a good picture of her eye.  She just happened to accidentally close them when I snapped the shot.  Perfect.  This is day 3 or 4 too.  It looked a lot worse, but she's feeling better!!!
