He is Risen!

Happy Easter!!!  Yesterday was full of FUN!  Kylee was invited to our neighbor's birthday party.  With a bounce house and Macy there, Kylee was bound to have fun!! After jumping all afternoon, Charlie, Kylee, and I headed out to the rodeo.  Unfortunately, there was no rodeo.  We ended up coming back home and visiting with the neighbors the rest of the evening.  Kylee, Macy, and Max did nothing but jump!!!  Their little legs had to be sore.  About 9 o'clock, we decided that we better go grab something to eat.  While we were at the restaurant Kylee started to feel ill.  I thought for sure she was going to throw up.  She was gagging and gagging.  Charlie rushed her out and I waited for our food to go.  When we got home, Charlie and I ate our dinner while Kylee rested on the couch.  I tried to get her to eat a popsicle just so she would have something in her stomach.  Backfire!!!  She started gagging again and then threw up.  Poor baby girl!  Luckily she didn't run a fever.  I think she was just so hungry that she was making herself sick.  She went the entire night without getting sick and was super excited this morning to celebrate Easter!!

The sweet Easter Bunny brought Kylee a Barbie fishing pole, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a sticker book, and a few other little things. 

I was trying to get Kylee's good morning smile, but the flash on my camera was a little bright for her this early in the morning.  She kept closing her eyes.  Finally, I got a decent one. 

As soon as Kylee went through her Easter basket she took a shower.  (These were her thoughts today:  Mom, what day is today?  Me:  Sunday.  Kylee:  Mom, you know on Friday, Jesus died on the cross for us, and on the third day he rose again.)  After we cleaned up and got ready to head out, we noticed the Easter Bunny hid eggs out front.  Kylee was overwhelmed with the amount of eggs he left for her.  She said that he probably left all the eggs for her to share with her brother.  What a thoughtful big sister.

Of course Charlie couldn't take a picture without having his eyes closed.

After our Easter breakfast at McDonald's, we headed out to Jeff and Jill's to celebrate with the family.  Nana went a little over bored and filled bags for all the kids.

Clip, Clip, Clip

Thursday, April 21, was Kylee's Easter Celebration at school.  With me about to be gone for the last three weeks of school, I didn't feel comfortable asking to attend.  So, sweet Charlie went instead.  He is such a good Daddy.  The children had bible time and then hunted eggs indoors.  It was too muddy outside for the little ones to hunt out there.  After collecting the eggs, they had an indoor picnic.  I packed Charlie and Kylee's lunch with a special little note so they knew I was thinking about them. 

 Wednesday night, after dying Easter eggs, Kylee mentioned wanting to get her hair cut.  It almost brought me to tears.  She has always wanted loooong hair.  After having alopecia when she was 2, most of her curly hair fell out and slowly grew back straight.  She would look in the mirror and ask why all the other little girls had long hair and she didn't.  Being so young, she didn't quite understand.  All I could do was tell her she was beautiful no matter what her hair looked like. I tried to remind her that this is how God made her.  We are all special in our own little ways.  After years of letting it grow, now she wants to cut it.  I wasn't going to mention her getting it cut, but when I went to pick her up from school Thursday, her teacher informed me that Kylee told her she was getting her hair cut.  I guess she was serious.  I asked Kylee is she really wanted to cut it.  I explained to her that it would take a really long time for it to grow back if she didn't like it short.  She was confident that she wanted it cut.  So after trying to convince her not to cut it, I took her to Groovy Cuts for Kids.  My stomach was full of butterflies, as if it were me getting my hair cut off.  I guess I was nervous that she wouldn't like it.  And as a mom, there would be nothing I could do to make it long again.  Holding my breath, I took pictures as the lady clipped away.  My only stipulation was that she had to be able to put it into a pony tail. Kylee was so happy when she looked in the mirror.  She couldn't stop running her fingers through it, looking at herself in the mirror, and talking about it.  She said it was ok to take pictures, but she didn't want me sending them to anyone because she wanted them to SEE her new hair. To top off the new hair style, she got her nails painted a pretty pink to match her outfit. 

What other way to show off her new due, then go out.  We met Nana and Papa and headed to the horse races.  We got there just in time for the first race.  Of course the guys immediately started betting, while us girls grabbed a bite to eat.  Kylee filled up on a hot dog, french fries, and chocolate ice cream.  Later she slipped a couple bites of Nana's nachos.  With 20 minutes in between each race, Kylee was easily distracted by the sand on the ground.  She sat and played almost the entire time...when the horses weren't out on the track.   Our own horse, Gone Dos, is also at Lone Star Park.  We are hoping his legs are healing well, and that he will be able to race in his first race sometime in May.  We are sooooo excited to finally see him run.   

Charlie didn't win much!
