Brooks Allen Vaughan

HE'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:29am, our handsome little man made his grand entrance into this wonderful world.
Let me start from the beginning.  Wednesday night, my mother stayed with us at our house because Charlie and I had to be at the hospital at 6:00am.  Not only was I nervous, but I think Kylee had a stomach full of butterflies as well.  After tossing and turning all night, Charlie and I were both up before our alarms went off.  We loaded up the cars and headed to Presbyterian Rockwall.  We were greeted with wonderful nurses and got everything ready to go. The baby and I both looked wonderful!  The doctors came in and said we'd be ready to go at 8:15am.  Mom and Kylee eventually made it to hospital about 7:30.  Charlie and mom had to keep her entertained.  She wanted nothing to do with me while I was hooked up to all the machines and lying in the hospital bed.  After having everything prepared, we were notified that the operating room was going to be occupied by an emergency c-section.  We then waited patiently until about 11:00am before they came and took me back.  Mom and Kylee went to McDonald's for lunch, and Charlie put his scrubs on and came in the OR.  After several attempts of trying to get the spinal block in, she finally used an epidural to get the the spinal in that way.  Talk about uncomfortable pain. OUCH!!!  Now the ball was rolling!!!  They called Charlie in and began working on the delivery.  I was a little nervous about the entire situation.  All the nurses and doctors were very compassionate and tried to keep me comfortable.  With extreme pressure of the doctors trying to deliver the baby, I felt like I couldn't breathe.  One of the doctors asked me if it feels like they are sitting on my chest.  YES! It sure did!  She said because they are! LOL!  As they started to deliver the baby, the doctors kept talking about how big he was.  One even mentioned, "Wow!  Look at his head.  He's got a big head."  Charlie and I both looked at each other like, what the heck?!?! The doctors finally removed the baby and brought him over for a quick peek at his mommy and daddy.  He didn't look big to me, but after weighing in at 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches long, I guess that is a bigger baby.  The nurses took the baby to check him over and make sure everything ok, while the doctors started to sew me back together.  Charlie and I still hadn't decided on a name at this point.  We knew we liked Maddox James, or Brooks Allen.  One of the doctors asked the nurse to turn the radio on....and what do you know.... Garth Brooks was singing.  We knew then, that Brooks Allen would be the name of our precious baby boy.
